Heather J. Kelly obtained her law degree from the George Washington University School of Law, where she discovered her passion for the courtroom in national competitions as a member of the GWU Law Trial Court Board.
After having the honor of serving in Washington DC as an Assistant United States Attorney, Heather returned to private practice where she spent many years in representing physicians in complex medical malpractice cases. In 2018, though, she realized her true calling was serving patients who had been harmed by the health care providers they trusted.
Heather joined the Miller Weisbrod Olesky team in January 2024 and brought more than 25 years of experience trying cases before juries, along with her commitment to seeking justice for injured patients.
Since 2019, Heather has taught the Medical Liability course to upper-level law students at American University, Washington College of Law, and she continues to mentor her past students. She looks forward to becoming admitted to the Texas bar and is admitted to the practice before the courts of the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
Heather is also an active member of the American Association for Justice, DC Trial Lawyers Association, Maryland Association for Justice, and Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. She was honored with the 2023 NAACP Presidents Award for the countless hours of volunteer service as Chair of the Arlington Virginia Branch of the NAACP Criminal Justice Committee.
She has achieved countless successful jury verdicts and settlements for her clients throughout her time as a trial lawyer. Heather's connection to her clients runs so deep, she continues to be in contact with many of them, even decades after their cases have resolved.
In her spare time, you might find Heather volunteering at the SPCA of Texas, walking her own small crew of rescue pups, enjoying a Texas Rangers game (though she misses her Washington Nationals), or spending time with her family and friends.
